I am Bas Straub and it is my personal desire to help you to get accepted for publication. Having worked all my life in academic publishing I know how hard and frustrating the road to publishing can be. Especially if you are not from England or another country with English as the main language. Especially to help you to get accepted for publication I have created the Authoring Academy.

ACADEMIC RECOGNITION
1. Get the language right
It is estimated that between 20–25% of all manuscripts are rejected before peer-review because the quality of English is deemed ‘poor’. Immediate rejection, also known as desk rejection, means that the quality of your research will not be assessed! Your research might be good, but if your manuscript is not accepted then nobody gets to read it. The first step on the road to publication is aimed at ensuring your level of English is appropriate: you will learn to choose the right words; how to structure your sentences and paragraphs correctly; how to write in an engaging manner; what you need to do to avoid verbosity; use the correct tense, and much more.
2. Structure your manuscript

What is the benefit of a well-written manuscript? A well-written manuscript is structured so that the reader can easily understand your message and its importance. It aids your reader because it can be read quickly and efficiently without ambiguity. In the second volume of the road to publication, you will learn how to create an engaging narrative. You will be able to write a well-structured story about your research, that will be easy to read by journal editors, peer reviewers, and other researchers.
3. Navigate the
journal submission process
Once you’ve tackled the language and structure of your manuscript the third step along the road to publication, is the submission of your manuscript. Avoid stumbling blocks like unintentional plagiarism; ensure that your figures and tables can be easily interpreted.
